How to choose

For a mid-range Ryzen chip, the mainstream B-series boards are the sensible purchase in almost every build. The premium X-series boards mostly buy you extra PCIe lanes and connectivity that gaming systems never saturate, and the VRM headroom on a good B-series board is already far beyond what a six or eight core CPU demands.

Spend the difference on memory instead. A board that trains a fast kit reliably first time is worth more in daily use than one with a heavier heatsink, and RAM has a larger effect on Ryzen performance than board tier does.

Not for gaming or general use. A quality B-series board handles a Ryzen 9 comfortably. X-series makes sense if you need multiple fast NVMe drives plus a discrete card without lane sharing.
