Almost every dash cam produces acceptable footage in daylight. The ones worth buying are the ones that still resolve a number plate at dusk, in rain, and when the car in front is moving away from you.

How to choose
Resolution numbers are close to meaningless on their own. A well-implemented 1440p sensor with good processing regularly outperforms a 4K unit with a cheap lens, because plate legibility depends on optics and bitrate rather than pixel count.
If you want parking surveillance, plan the power supply before you buy. Hardwiring with a voltage cut-off is the only approach that reliably protects your battery, and a camera with a supercapacitor rather than a lithium battery will survive summer heat far better.

Do I need a rear camera as well?
Rear-end collisions are common and often disputed, so a two-channel system meaningfully improves your coverage. It also roughly doubles the installation work.
How long does footage stay on the card?
Most cameras loop-record and overwrite. Expect a few hours on a 64GB card at high bitrate, with incident clips locked separately. Use a high-endurance card, as standard cards fail quickly under continuous writing.
