How to choose
If you want a power bank that can trickle-charge in an emergency, a small integrated panel is fine as a backup and should never be your primary charging plan. Expect a full recharge from the built-in panel to take days rather than hours.
If you genuinely need solar charging on a multi-day trip, buy a separate folding panel and a plain high-quality power bank. That combination charges in a realistic timeframe and lets you replace either half when it fails, which the all-in-one units do not.

Can a solar power bank charge a phone from empty?
From its stored battery, yes, several times. From the sun alone, a small integrated panel will take many hours of direct light for a partial phone charge.
Do they work through a window or on a cloudy day?
